Tickets and rate information

Simple booking - stress-free travel.

Tickets for your journey on the Nightjet or EuroNight can generally be purchased 180 days before the departure date. Travel dates falling into the period of the annual timetable change in mid-December may be subject to shorter booking periods. All fares are dependent on capacity utilisation and are therefore subject to change depending on the availability of ticket contingents. We therefore recommend booking early.

Would you prefer to book a low fare or invest a little more and stay flexible? You can choose between the Sparschiene-Tickets or the Standard-Ticket.

Standard-Tickets (Flex)

Available for both adults and children. The ticket includes a seat reservation in your chosen travel category. Therefore, the ticket is train-specific, meaning it is only valid for the booked train, the specified travel day, and the selected route.

The following cancellation terms apply:

  • A refund is possible and free of charge until the day before the 1st day of validity.
  • From the 1st day of validity onwards, no refund/exchange is possible.

These cancellation conditions apply to tickets that have been purchased online provided that the booking has not yet been received as a PDF ticket. A PDF ticket can no longer be cancelled. Tickets picked up at the ticket machine or ticket counter can only be refunded at the ticket counter.*

Sparschiene and Sparschiene Komfort-Tickets (Non-Flex and Semi-Flex)

Sparschiene tickets are the most affordable option for your journey on the night train and are therefore highly sought-after. Those who wish to travel at particularly low prices should keep in mind that these tickets are available in limited quantities and the fare is dependent on demand.

Sparschiene-Tickets have special and distinct cancellation conditions.

Changing travel categories on the train

If you wish to change your travel category once the train has departed (e.g. from a seat to a couchette), please contact our train team. Provided there are places available, you can travel in even more comfort for an additional fee.

Familie im Liegewagen

Children in the Nightjet

Children up to 5 years of age travel for free when sharing a seat with an adult.

Children

One infant up to 5 years of age travels free of charge in the booked seat (seat, couchette or bed) of the accompanying adult. Unfortunately, this is not possible in the Mini Cabin due to space restrictions.

If you need a separate sleeping area for your child, you can book this with the "Child" ticket (incl. seat reservation). Low-priced tickets are available for children aged 6 to 14.

For a pleasant journey, we recommend that families with children book a private compartment in the couchette carriage or a compartment in the sleeper carriage.

There is only limited space available for pushchairs: please travel with a folding buggy that can be folded up.

Private compartment

A private compartment in a seating or couchette carriage is particularly suitable when travelling with children. Find out more
